Analog Alchemy is the photographic and artistic workshop of Joseph Treder. Joseph approaches photography from a fine art background, specializing in hands-on analog processes to shoot and print his photo work. Much of his work is driven by an exploration into social presumptions and behaviors, and the anxieties they cause. Personal experiences are the voice of these narratives.
Joseph grew up in a small town in northern Wisconsin and spent a great portion of his youth on the south shore of Lake Superior. Not only did this instill a great love of the outdoors and the haven it provides, but an intimate understanding of the importance of solitude and the simplicity brought about by economic sparseness. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Superior where he earned a BFA and MA in studio art.
Joseph currently lives and works in suburban Minneapolis, Minnesota with his dog and muse Weston, who often graces his photos or is present during portrait sessions. Inquiries and studio visits are encouraged.
